The 3Ws is a roadshow promoting the safe use of the Internet, through dance. Presented in three chapters, this full-length, dance-theatre performance promotes awareness of certain dangers that have become pervasive in Internet usage today.
1. UPLOADING
Experience a day in the life of a selfie-absorbed individual. This chapter traces the journey of their digital footprint, from the bedroom to the wider world.
2. SENDING
To be ‘catfished’ is to be lured into a relationship by means of a fictional online persona. This cautionary tale conveys the helplessness of online messengers as the messages they deliver begin to tell a dark story of their own.
3. CONNECTING
In this story we witness the transformation of an optimistic young person, with big hopes and dreams, to despair, as she discovers her friends are not who she thinks they are.
Addressing issues such as Privacy and the Digital Footprint, Grooming, and Cyber Bullying, The 3Ws, choreographed by Jacob Piccinino with the ŻfinMalta dancers, combines seriousness and comedy to highlight these very current cyber situations and threats. A collaboration between BeSmartOnline! & ŻfinMalta, this roadshow promotes dance as an educational tool, while opening up sensitive discussions about the everyday online world that are often avoided.
