Contemporary with Zoe Camilleri
Join Zoe Camilleri for an intensive week of company open classes designed to progressively build in energy, rhythm, and complexity, offering a dive into certain dynamics of movement. We will explore the idea of controlling time through our bodies, using concepts of inertia, suspension, and acceleration, to hone the physical qualities needed to land sharp accents while maintaining fluidity and softness in transitions. Through a mixture of improvisation and structured phrases, we aim to develop both strength and ease in movement. Expect an environment that encourages discovery and the freedom to explore and challenge your own movement vocabulary.
Get your morning moving in a class with the ŻfinMalta company dancers, led by local and international guest teachers. Once a month for a week or more, professional dance practitioners are invited to join the company’s morning warm-up, with practices including ballet, contemporary, somatic movement, and yoga. Classes are suitable for 18+ years, and perfect for professionals and advanced students*. ŻfinMalta’s Company Open Class programme is tailored exclusively to provide a space where participants can further develop their professional practice, make connections, and experience life inside Malta’s National Dance Company.
Age: 18+*
*We consider participation from younger individuals on a case-to-case basis, usually accepting requests from participants pursuing vocational training. Interested participants under the age of 18, and those with queries regarding the pace of this class may contact emma-louise.walker@zfinmalta.mt in advance of booking their tickets.
Company Open Classes are set at a professional pace suitable for the company’s dancers morning routine. Upon the booking of tickets, there is the assumption that participants have had experience in the practicing technique and that the class is not an introductory session for them.
