Developing Dramaturgical Skills
Critical Chapters in Creative Processes

ŻfinMalta, under the artistic direction of Paolo Mangiola, and in collaboration with Spazju Kreattiv, is launching its first Dramaturgical Series, a tri-part series occurring in three chapters presented in April, May & June 2022.

This dramaturgical series of sessions will address questions such as: “What is a dance dramaturg?” “Why do we need a dance dramaturg?”, “Why should I become a dance dramaturg?”. The series will focus on discovering the tools of dramaturgical practice, with particular emphasis on the word ‘practice’.

Led jointly by Rodia Vomvolou and Thomas Schaupp, both dance dramaturgs will share their own practices and experience in the field as they mentor the selected applicants through the series being hosted at Spazju Kreattiv.

Chapter 1: Tuesday, 5th – Thursday, 7th April 2022 (remote sessions, Studio B, Spazju Kreattiv / 3hrs per day)

Chapter 2: Tuesday, 3rd – Thursday, 5th May 2022 (3 day intensive, Studio A, Spazju Kreattiv / 6hrs per day)

Chapter 3: Wednesday, 8th – Friday, 10th June 2022 (remote sessions, Studio A, Spazju Kreattiv / 6hrs per day)

This is an excellent opportunity for people that are interested in dance and movement as an art form and its development.  ZfinMalta and Spazju Kreattiv are calling to all individuals coming from the arts and humanities, academia and science, who are looking to enrich the tools of their current practice and may be particularly interested in artistic creation processes.

The course is free of charge and limited to 6 participants.

HOW TO APPLY

Interested applicants who are able to commit to the dates listed above are to send a cover letter of max 600 words by email to project@zfinmalta.mt explaining:

  • Their background
