Niels Plotard was born in the Parisian suburbs, France, in 1993. He started dancing at age 7 in a neighborhood school in Montmorency. As a child, he also trained in athletics and capoeira. In 2005, at age 12, he began training in contemporary dance in Paris with teachers like Sylvie Payebien and Eric Castry. In 2007, Niels moved to La Rochelle and pursued his advanced dance studies at the Conservatory of La Rochelle.
In 2011, he joined the Ballet Junior de Genève under the direction of Sean Wood and Patrice Delay. He worked with a number of choreographers like Andonis Foniadakis, Barak Marshall, Stijn Celis, Idan Sharabi and also on works by Hofesh Shechter, Alexander Ekman and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui.
In 2014, Niels joined ŻfinMalta as company dancer. In March 2016, Niels took the new position as Creative Resident Artist. Within this role, he continues to dance in some works as well as further develop his work in choreography, film, sound and photography for the company.
