Martina was born in Malta in 1987. She joined the Olivia Dow School of Russian Ballet in Malta and studied the Legat System there, reaching 'soloist' level in ballet and the 'senior' level of teaching, while also performing in all of the School's productions. Martina completed three degrees at the University of Malta, beginning with a Bachelors in English and Archaeology, followed by a Masters in English (Modern and Contemporary Literature and Criticism). She was introduced to Contemporary Dance while following a Bachelors in Dance Studies at the same university, under the tutelage of Jo Butterworth, Mavin Khoo, Francesca Tranter, Lucía Piquero and Anusha Kedhar. Martina has worked on other key projects throughout her career, including the theatrical Knights Spectacular 1565, which ran locally for seven years, along with performances with Contact Dance Company, Moveo Dance Company and the 325 Toi Toi Educational Programme. She has also performed at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo with Ellipses Dance Company. Martina joined ŻfinMalta in 2014 as a company dancer and as of 2018, has been making a transition into the role of Education & Outreach Artist.
